History
Tim Roehl owned and operated “TNR Electrical” for some 15 years prior to forming Built Electrical and with a strong technical background Tim thought it would be wise to bring in a business partner who had experience in administration and management. Matt Smith seemed a suitable candidate having worked as an apprentice under Tim many years prior and shortly after finishing his trade had moved into various management roles with large electrical and mechanical firms. After establishing that they both had a burning desire to create a customer focused contracting company with a fresh set of values, appreciating that they could both bring different skill sets and had respect for one another’s expertise the decision was made.
Built Electrical Pty Ltd was established in January 2006 by Tim Roehl and Matt Smith in Adelaide, South Australia.

Shop-fitting
The Directors of Built Electrical have a passion for the shop-fitting industry. It came about after learning that many shop-fitting companies would fly their electrical contractors around Australia as it was difficult to find local electricians with the sense of urgency required to ensure a shop opens on time. Tim and Matt had several opportunities in the industry and welcomed them, both working “on the tools” in the beginning they found the people involved in the shop-fitting game seemed like no other. Everyone in the shop-fitting industry knows that the shop must open on time, this encourages the team to work together to do whatever it takes to get the desired result achieved.
The special requirements of the shop-fitting industry have been a focus for Built Electrical who now have “territorial offices” and/or “corporate partners” spanning across our great Nation. This business model gives the shop-fitting and retail industry peace of mind that they can source pricing anywhere across Australia via one point of call and that if they engage the services of Built Electrical the personnel and dedication are there to make the project a success.
Capability statement
Although a young company, the experience of the key staff and employees at Built Electrical is vast and extensive. A list of recent projects and their values can be provided upon request, we only disclose this information as requested by prospective clients for privacy reasons.
We have carried out amongst our portfolio 2000 square metre shop fit-outs in 8 week periods, intricate electrical installations in architectural special climate glass structures and mechanical services power reticulation through areas with $20 Million worth of active sensitive Equipment in them.
We are happy to attend any interview processes and/or submit project delivery proposals for any prospective client providing we can see that we can add value to the prospective clients’ business requirements.
